Guilford County Department of Public Health will be holding two Tetanus-Diptheria-Pertussis, commonly known as Tdap, immunization clinics for 6th graders this Saturday, September 27.  The clinics will be held at the 1100 East Wendover Avenue, Greensboro location and at 501 East Green Drive in High Point during the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Appointments are required. Please call 641-5563 in Greensboro or 845-7699 in High Point to schedule an appointment. Please bring the child’s birth certificate, social security card, and current shot record, if available. This immunization will be provided free of charge.

If your child is unable to attend any of the upcoming special clinics, the Department of Public Health is encouraging parents to call our office or your child’s health care provider for an appointment during regular business hours.

Beware of ghosts, goblins, and things that go bump in the night. Halloween and Fall Festival time are here again, and many children are preparing for these big events. Choosing just the right costume is a big priority for most children. Making your child’s event a safe one should be the leading priority for parents.

Susan Hawks, RN, BSN, Guilford County Department of Public Health School Health Nurse, was selected as a member of the 2008 All-Star Team by the NC Public Health Association’s Pride in Public Health Committee.  Hawks is one of only 12 public health department representatives selected from nominations received from across the state.  Hawks was recognized on Wednesday, September 24 during the opening session of the 2008 NCPHA Annual Educational Conference and Trade Show, held in New Bern, NC.
