Holiday decorations, especially candles and electrical lighting, can be fire hazards, and Safe Kids Guilford County and Guilford County Department of Public Health want to remind parents and caregivers to take a few precautions when decorating for Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and other winter festivities. The Guilford County WIC Program was awarded a Certificate of Achievement from the State of North Carolina Nutrition Services Branch on October 30, 2008 for obtaining the greatest percentage of improvement of infants participating in the WIC Program who are still being breastfed at six months of age. Over 60% of infants participating in the Guilford County WIC Program begin life breastfeeding. Almost 40% of those infants continue to breastfeeding through 6 weeks of age. At six months of age 21% are still breastfeeding. (more…) |
