Ceremony in Memory of Fallen Child Reminds All of Vehicle Safety (Health Event)

The Guilford County Departments of Social Services and Public Health and the Guilford County Child Fatality Prevention and Community Protection Team will be holding a sign dedication ceremony on Thursday, February 21 from 3:00-3:30 p.m. at the Social Services/Public Health building, room 124 at 1203 Maple Street in Greensboro. The public is invited to attend.  The sign that will be dedicated is in memory of toddler Barack H. Hamani who died November 2010 as a result of injuries he sustained in a traffic incident in the parking lot of this county facility.  Event organizers hope the sign will serve as a reminder to those driving through parking lots, pedestrian crossings, or other high traffic areas to be cautious and aware of pedestrians especially children when operating their motor vehicle.  Barack’s family worked alongside these county officials on the design of the sign, which also will be placed in social services and public health facility parking lots throughout the county.
For more information about the event, call Kim Herzing or Lisa Alexander at (336)641-7777.
