The Guilford County Geographic Information Services Department has been working with the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University since 1994 to provide students with valuable real world experience through a paid, technical internship program.
Since its inception fifteen years ago, the County has employed over sixty students from these schools. While working here, the students obtain real job experience and contribute tangible worth to the operation of the Guilford County GIS Department, its initiatives, and projects. Intern assignments include updating production data layers, producing map products and other tasks related to a functioning GIS Department.
In addition to the Intern Program, GIS staff members are also involved in curriculum development committees at NCA&T.
