The three methods of cancellation are:

First: A satisfaction document that satisfies the requirements of NCGS 45-36.10.

Second: An affidavit of satisfaction that satisfies the requirements of NCGS 45-36.16.

Third: A trustee’s satisfaction that satisfies the requirements of NCGS 45-36.20, but only if the security instrument is a Deed of Trust.

There is no fee for recording cancellation documents.
