In 1997, the North Carolina General Assembly passed legislation giving counties the flexibility to tailor their Work First program to meet local needs. Work First is North Carolina’s program to administer the federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Block Grant. The Work First Planning Committee, representing local government, public, private and community organizations, designed the attached plan to administer Work First in Guilford County from October 2009 to September 2011. The public may review and comment on this draft plan prior to its submission to the Board of County Commissioner’s on November 6, 2008. Public comments will be received from October 8th thru October 17th 2008. Following approval by the Board of County Commissioners, the Plan must be submitted to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services by October 31, 2008.
Copies of the Plan are available for review via the link below, all public Libraries, and both Department of Social Services locations.
