Guilford County's MWBE Program is designed to increase minority participation and to assist suppliers in meeting a good faith goal of ten percent (10%) expenditures in construction contracts or repair $300,000 or more and purchase of apparatus, supplies, materials, or equipment $90,000 or more in accordance with N.C.G.S. 143-28.2(e)(3) and 143-129(b). A 10% goal requirement also applies to projects completed by a private entity on a facility to be leased or purchased by the state or local government, and to any building project costing $100,000 to be done by local government or public or private entity that receives state appropriations or other state grant funds for the project. Exceptions may be made in cases of special emergency situations involving the health and safety of the people or their property in Guilford County.
