22nd Annual NC MWBE Coordinators Conference

The North Carolina Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) Coordinators Network Conference was held at Myrtle Beach, SC on November 7 th thru 9 th 2007. Guest Speakers for the event included Congressman G.K. Butterfied from eastern North Carolina and Congressman James E. Clyburn from Sumter, South Carolina. Both congressmen spoke about the $700 billion bail-out and its effects on the economy. Julianne Malveaux (president of Bennett College) was also a guest speaker at the event. She spoke about the economy and its effect on small businesses. Dr. Melvin Gravely II conducted a very useful workshop on implementing a competitive supplier diversity/development program. The MWBE Coordinators Network had thirty companies exhibit their businesses at the conference. Not only was the conference educational, but it also provided the opportunity to network with fellow coordinators and small businesses.
