The Guilford County Department of Public Health provides a wide range of adult health services.  Some of these services are designed to address the healthcare needs of all Guilford County residents and all services are designed to meet the needs of uninsured/underinsured low income residents. SERVICES FOR WOMEN (Adults and Teens)

Family Planning Services provide a full range of birth control options plus education and counseling.  New patient visit and annual return visits include a complete examination, pap test as indicated, and other laboratory as indicated.  Included is our Regional Vasectomy Program for men.

Maternity Care is provided through pregnancy, including a six week post partum exam.  Women who meet eligibility criteria for the Medicaid for Pregnant Women program, receive care free.  Other women are charged on a sliding scale according to income. 

Note:  Our Dental Clinic provides services to pregnant women who have a pink Medicaid card.  Call 641-3152 for an appointment in Greensboro or 845-7733 for an appointment in High Point.

The Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program (BCCCP) provides free screening and follow-up examinations for breast and cervical cancer to female residents of Guilford County who are age 50 and over, not enrolled in Medicare part B or Medicaid, and meet income guidelines for the program.   

Primary Care for Medicaid Carolina Access Women is available through  the Guilford County Department of Public Health. As primary care provider for the North Carolina Medicaid Carolina Access Medicaid Managed Care program, women may designate the Women’s Health clinic as their primary care provider.

SERVICES FOR WOMEN AND MEN

Sexually Transmitted Infection same day appointments are available on most days. Confidential services are provided to women, men, and adolescents free of charge.  Confidential testing for HIV and Syphilis is available on Tuesdays and Fridays. Please call 641-5563 the day before you want to be seen.  Appointments are limited so please call early.

International Travel Clinic provides up to the minute recommended vaccines for your travel destination.  We also provide essential health and political information to help insure a safe and pleasurable travel experience.  This program is self-sustaining, however, fees are very competitive.  We are a CERTIFIED YELLOW FEVER IMMUNIZATION approved clinic site.

Home Visiting Services for Disabled and Elderly Adults are available to residents of Guilford County who are in need of care care that compares to the care offered by a nursing  home and have needs that can be met by the program, and have CAP/MA Medicaid.  Other short term services are available to residents 18 years and older who are unable to meet requirements for eligibility to receive services from a certified home health agency, spend the majority of time at home, and  need care for six months or less.
