and forward.
Real estate index begins January 1, 1982.
The Register of Deeds Office is in the process of converting its real estate records, including notary certification records, to image files that may be retrieved by clicking the bar above. These files are displayed in the Adobe Acrobat PDF format. Version 7 of Adobe Acrobat is incompatible with the image retrieval system used by the Register of Deeds Office. We are currently researching these incompatibility issues and will have them resolved as soon as possible. If your PC does not have the free Acrobat Reader software needed to view these files, you may download it by clicking HERE. In the future, Uniform Commercial Code Indices will also be available through an image file system. In the meantime, these records may be accessed by clicking the "Register of Deeds Index System" bar below.
Codes for Trustee and Other Designated Status
Image files of recorded plats (in the TIF image format) may be accessed by entering the appropriate book and page number. PLEASE NOTE: The book and page numbering system for plat maps differs from the system used for recording deeds, deeds of trust. etc., that are accessible through the Real Estate Imaging System above. In many instances, however, the deed or deed of trust will include the book and page number for the plat containing the property referenced in that document.
Indices of vital records maintained by the Register of Deeds Office are accessible by clicking on the bar above. While images of these records are not available online, you may obtain certified copies by mail or in person at either the Greensboro or High Point office.
Guilford County, in a cooperative effort between the Tax, Community Development, Elections and Information Services Departments, provides access to a map based online data viewer. The data viewer provides access to a variety of map based information including parcels, 10 foot contour lines, aerial photography, street centerline, zoning classification and others. Data displayed through the viewer is updated periodically. Please consult original land records sources for the most current information.

Important Browser Information:
This program utilizes a Java applet to extract the desired record and display it on your screen. For this reason, it is recommended that you download the most current version of Netscape or Internet Explorer. It is highly recommended that users employ Internet Explorer 5.5, Service Pack 2 or higher for connections, as this browser stores the applet on your hard drive, thus expediting future connections to the database. Internet Explorer users may need a Java plug-in for the program to work properly. As part of its settlement with Sun Microsystems, Microsoft is no longer making Java-related plug-ins available from its web site. To download the Sun Microsystems Java Plug-In, click HERE. Depending upon the speed of your connection, it may take 2-3 minutes for the Java applet to download to your PC. For additional information on troubleshooting click HERE.
Internet Explorer users: In order for you to be able to print pages properly, please go to "Tools," then "Internet Options," and then "Settings" under "Temporary Internet Files." Under "Check for newer version of stored pages," click the button beside "Every visit to the page." Additional details on advanced browser settings may be downloaded by clicking HERE.
NOTE: Some of these programs display data by opening a new window. If you are using firewall software or any other program that blocks pop-ups, please consult your product documentation for the appropriate work-around.
Some of the more recent versions of the Windows XP operating system have run into problems with Java applets. One option you may wish to try is:
Netscape users: You must install a security certificate from Guilford County. Click in the check box next to "Accept this Certificate Authority for Certifying Software Developers." Then when prompted for a name, enter Guilford County.
