Non-emergency Medical Transportation
TAMS provides transportation to doctors' offices, hospitals, dialysis centers, clinics, dentists and other health-related visits medical appoints for persons in need. Guilford County residents who have a Medicaid pink or blue card and who have no other means of transportation receive free transportation to medical appointment. Transportation services may include bus tickets, gas vouchers, taxis or vans. Medicaid recipients must complete a transportation assessment form before service can begin. This is usually handled over the phone. Other county residents living outside the city limits or without access to public transit can also receive medical transportation. Non-Medicaid passengers must also complete an eligibility form. Persons 60 years old or older will be mailed and form. For all other the form can be downloaded below. Persons over 60 years of age may receive service for free; all others pay a $1.60 one-way fare.

Three times a day, Monday through Friday, TAMS makes runs to medical facilities over in Winston-Salem. We work in cooperation with PART Connections and can assist anyone with medical trips to facilities in Chapel Hill and Durham. Trips to the pharmacy can be schedule as part of your medical trip. Medical transportation is provided Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with limited service on Saturday for dialysis patients.
Senior Services Transportation
Transportation for seniors is provided throughout Guilford County for senior programs, meals and adult day care. TAMS provides relief to caregivers by offering transportation to persons attending adult day care programs. We understand how difficult managing a job and household while caring for a loved one can be. We make every effort to meet the caregiver’s needs for pickup and drop-off times while balancing the daily programs provided by centers. Transportation is provided between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. You must complete an eligibility form and be approved before receiving these services. Call 641-4848 to find out if you are eligible. There is no fare; however, donations are welcome.
Continuing Ed Bus Transportation
TAMS provides a solution for persons who want to continue their education beyond high school. If you do not have access to public transit and live outside the city limits of Greensboro or High Point, our service is there for you.

24/7 Employment Transportation Services
Transportation is available to work sites, work-related activities, job training and job fairs. Assistance may include bus tickets, gas vouchers, car repairs and taxi or van services. Job access transportation is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If you are a former Work First recipient or participating in a workforce development program services may be free of charge.
Employment transportation is provided to Any Guilford County resident if either your origin or destination is located outside the city limits of Greensboro or High Point or if your work schedule is outside the operational hours of GTA or Hi tran. There is a one-way fare of $1.60 for each passenger. Children of a working parent or legal guardian can be transported to child care as part of the employment trip.
Persons over 60 years of age or persons that have a physical or mental disability can receive employment transportation also. You may receive a ride on the system or fuel reimbursement for you or someone that drives you. There is a one-way fare of $1.60 if you ride the system. Persons over 60 years of age ride for free of charge. Funding for this service does not allow for transportation of children to child care.

PT Links
Need to get to Winston-Salem, Alamance County, downtown High Point or downtown Greensboro but don’t have a means of getting there? TAMS Services has a solution for you. We have coordinated with Greensboro Transit Authority (GTA), Hi tran and Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation (PART) to develop a program called PT Links. This program is exclusively for individuals without access to public transit residing outside of the Greensboro and High Point city limits. Your trip can be for any purpose.
If you live outside the city limits and want to go shopping at Four Season Mall, we can pick you up and link you with a GTA bus stop that will then take you to Four Seasons Mall. Or better yet, you live in Northeast Guilford County and work in Winston-Salem. We will pick you up and take you to The Depot in downtown Greensboro where you can take the PART bus over to Winston-Salem. The fare is only $1.60 one-way to link up. You will then need to pay the fare for the system you are transferring to.

Cost to Ride
Many of our services are funded through federal and state grants. The county supplements the funding with general tax revenue. In many cases the trips are free. In cases where the fare applies it is $1.60 one-way.
Reservations
Call 641-4848 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, to make your trip reservations. Drivers cannot schedule trips for you. Reservations must be made by 12 noon on the working day before your trip. For bus tickets, you must call three days before the day of your trip.
When you call for a trip reservation, please have the following information available:
Your name and pick-up address.
Your telephone number and a telephone number at your destination.
The address of your destination.
Your Medicaid number, if you have one.
The date and time of your trip.
Whether an assistant will be traveling with you, you are in a wheelchair, or you will need other special assistance.
To cancel your trip, call 641-4848 at least one hour before your pick-up time. Otherwise, you will be considered a "no show." Drivers will wait five minutes for riders after the scheduled pick-up time. A rider who does not show after five minutes will also be considered a "no show" and the driver will leave. The return trip may be cancelled. A client with two "no-show" trips within 30 days may be put on probation and/or denied further service.
Travel Tips
Your driver can arrive 20 minutes prior to or 20 minutes after your scheduled pickup time and be considered on time. So it is advisable to be ready at least 30 minutes prior to your scheduled pickup time.
Our service is a shared-ride so other person may be on the vehicle and other trips made while you are riding.
Keep your seatbelt buckled.
All Wheelchairs must have working seatbelts and footrests.
Eating, drinking, smoking, tampering with vehicle equipment and inappropriate or unsafe behavior are not allowed.
Personal Care Assistants
One personal care assistant may ride with you. When you make your reservation, please tell the call-taker if a personal care assistant will be riding with you.
Inclement Weather
Snow, ice storms or other severe weather may require us to cancel service for the safety of our riders. There are three ways to check service status during inclement weather:
Watch WFMY-TV 2 or Fox 8, information is posted along with other closings and delays.
Check the county’s web site at www.co.guilford.nc.us. Information will be posted on the home page.
Call 641-4848 during normal business or 478-0340 between 6:00 AM and 8:00 PM.
Non-English Speaking Assistance
TAMS is able to offer assistance to those speaking languages other than English – over 100 languages – through an association with Fluent Languages.

Guilford County Transportation and Mobility Services hereby gives notice that it is the policy of the Department to assure full compliance with the Title VI Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Civil Rights Restoration Act of 1987, Executive Order 12898 Federal Actions to Address Environmental Justice in Minority Populations and Low- Income Populations, Executive Order 13166 Improving Access to Services for Persons with Limited English Proficiency, and related nondiscrimination statues and regulations in all programs and services.
